Movie Review:

Lafangey Parindey is an average kind of movie—not the best but comes with a few attractions. Deepika’s fans waiting to see her in action will like her scenes and she does not appears like a blind girl – she is super-active throughout. The lead actor Neil Nitin Mukhesh is great in appearance and he has been given lot of mumbaiya dialogues to say but he is not very strong at delivering it. The movie is directed by Pradeep Sarkar and like the previous one of Yash Raj – - Badmaash Company — it too brings in a gang of youngsters. The movie lacks a great script but it has been presented well with a number of graphics and actions aimed to attract young audience.

The story of the movie is about Nandu – who is a street biker and a gangster and Pinky Palkar — who is a blind girl who want to fly like a bird. Nandu is the teacher who helps Pinky to learn the steps which will enable her to see things without eyes. Nandu is a good fighter but he is not the ardent lover kind of boy .Pinky works hard to achieve her goal and becomes a dancer on roller skates and later Nandu realizes that he has been in love with the girl.

The music of the film is ok – average .The cinematography of most of the Yash Raj Banner films are fine and same can be said for this movie. The script is weak as it is more or less predictable in various stages. The lead actor’s looks are nice to match their characters need and the performance of lead stars is ok. Neil looks fine, Deepika is perfect as ever and Piyush Mishra and Anand Tiwari are ok.

The movie tries to deliver entertainment in patches. It is a kind of time pass movie.

Hindi Movie Review :

The movie is about a legal battle fought by a girl to prove that she was raped – which is very difficult to prove – so comes the title Kis Hudh Tak but the way the subject has been treated it is very undesirable and insensitive. The movie is about a flirt boy Sharad who has a politically ambitious mother and the boy dates the lead actress of the film Dia – who later files a complaint that she has been raped by her boyfriend. The movie is about how the girl has to prove that it was not mutual consent.

Sharad is sent to jail and Dia who is a law student tries to fight the battle to get justice for being raped by her boyfriend. The film goes very offensive on the subject which annoys the audience .Treatment for this kind of subject should be logical and sensitive but the movie comes with a number of old dialogues and portrayal – which makes everything almost predictable and even annoying. There are so many movies made in past on similar issues and it does not tries to portray a newer version which could have appeared like an authentic effort to bring the subject to people.

The cinematography of the movie is average and songs are very weak — -that do not add to the movie. The film has good performance from the lead actress Shital Shah and the actor Pavan Sharma is ok .The performance of the actress who plays the role of mother of the boy is nice and she looks strong in her role. The way the movie repeatedly use the words “rape”, it gets heavy the viewers.

The movie is designed for a section of audience and it may not be liked by all.

Star Cast : Rajat Barmecha, Ronit Roy, Aayan Boradia, Ram Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Anand Tiwari, Suman Mastkar, Raja Hudda, Varun Khettry, Shaunak Sengupta, Akshay Sachdev

The movie “Udaan” is not just the issue of the growing teenage boy but it is about the pressure created by parents on children to pursue their dream without considering if the kid is interested in pursuing the dream, he is capable or not .The burden and the emotional problems faced by middle class teenagers along the issues of growing age is depicted in the movie and the movie shows it with a different angle.

The story of the movie is about a young boy Rohan who is expelled from school for watching a C – grade movie with his group and then he comes back to his dad who is a strict disciplinarian. The boy who never got in touch with normal everyday family life in hostel faces the new realities of life where he has to grow up to fight for his future and he meets his step brother who is subjected to abuse of his father everyday ,who is protected by his uncle .

The movie shows the age when young mind want to be free to do things as per their wish as they realize they are growing, these minds are overburdened by the issues of life and all the happiness of growing goes away. The movie has a nice performance from the lead actor Rajat Barmecha , Ronit Roy and Ram Kapoor.

The movie is another wonderful cinema from Anurag Kashyap who never forgets to tell that the movie is not directed by him and he gave no contribution instead all the credits goes to debutant director Vikramaditya Motwane .

Rating: 6/10

Rating : 5 /10

The movie “Milenge Milenege” is again a love story having one of the many tried and tested scripts and the attraction of the movie is the chemistry of Shahid and Kareena. The story of the movie is about Priya who believes she will get Mr. Right in seven days because a tarot card reader told her .Immy meets Priya in Bangkok festival and then they spend some time together and their relationship develops to a later stage.

At the end of the festival, the two are planning to come back to Delhi and Priya finds out that Amit is a kind of Casanova who keeps flirting with girls and has all those habits which she dislikes. Amit had been planning to give up bad habits and to tell Priya that he really loved her but Priya decides to go for a break up and says, if we are destined to meet we will find each other in Delhi.

After three years Amit changes completely into a good man and he is now an ideal bachelor but he refuses to marriage because he still has some feeling left for Priya and the same is happening to Priya. Then once they decide to find out about each other before taking the final decision of marriage and the movie shows how the two people struggle to get the whereabouts of each other.

The movie is promoted as romantic comedy resembles Hollywood’s movie Serendipity (2001) after the initial part when the two lovers try to find out each other. The movie fails to be a great romantic film , instead it is more or less outdated love story which may not get many takers although the pairing of Kareena and Shahid onscreen is great.

The movie is again a love story – predictable, and the chemistry of Sonam and Imraan is striking to lure the college goers to theatres. With the right cast the debutant director did his best to deliver a fresh couple in a no new story but it attracts.

The film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai has been promoted to be a movie of 70’s decade and therefore , the music album is expected to deliver some great numbers which can resemble the style of 70s.The music is composed by Pritam who is supported by Irshad Kamil, Amitabh Bhattacharya and Nilesh Mishra.

‘Pee Loon Hoto Ki Sargam’ : The first song is a nice rendition in the voice of Mohit Chauhan and the lyrics of the song is by Irshad Kamil. The song can be seen in the promotionals and it starts off well and has nice tunes even in the middle part of the song. A remixed version has also been added to the album which is also a nice song. The song is a romantic number and it attracts.

‘Tum Jo Aaye’ : The song is written by Irshad Kamil and it is a nice one in the format of Qawalli , in the voice of Tulsi Kumar and in between the lines Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also gives voice to the song.

‘Parda’ – Parda is the cabaret of 70s and the song is in voice of Sunidhi Chauhan, Anupam and Rana. This one is ok to hear and it must be a situational number which will add to the narration.

“Iam in Love” : This one is a romantic number and the lyrics are written by Nilesh Mishra. The song has been repeated three times in the album. One of the versions has KK doing the singing; the second one has Karthik giving the voice for the song. Another version is called the dance version and it is also a nice one. The song has the potential to be in chartbusters.

‘Babu Rao Mast Hai’ : Mika gives his voice to the song written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and the song has been written in a way to portrays a character. It is a mischievous number with a lot of funny meaning in the lyrics. The song is nice fun track.

The songs of Once Upon a Time in Mumbai are entertaining and the romantic numbers of the album may dominate the charts.

Movie Review: Raavan

Raavan shows a range of landscapes, great cinematography and great camerawork from the director, but the audience finds no sense in the plot .It is Ramayana gone wrong. The role played by Vikram has been depicted excessively callous who appears not worried about his wife’s well being and chemistry between Ash and Abhi is non-existent. The movie has everybody from Ramayana(as the title indicates) – Sita , Ram ,Raavan, Lakshmana (Nikhil Diwedi), Hanumaan (Govinda ), Meghnaath(Ravi Kishan), Vibhishan , Surpanakha (villains sister) etc.

The story of Hanuman entering the castle of Raavan and meeting Sita and even giving the gift from her husband – all was present. The role of Govinda is best, and the performance of Aishwarya and Abhishek are ok but the movie lacks the strength of strong script. The director should have made it modern Ramayana ..instead of creating this confusion version which makes the movie appear like Ram Gopal Verma ‘s Jungle.

The story is about a police officer Dev falling in love with a classical dancer Ragini and then they get married .The police is searching for Beera and accidently Dev kills his sister. Beera the local leader of the tribal resembles the Robin Hood –who does not abide by law but he has a great support of people.

Beera abducts the police man’s wife and when the wife jumps into the stream to prevent getting killed by Beera .. he is impressed. Ragini’s husband tries to conduct a massive raid to search for his wife and the cop is very smart to hit Beera at the right time and right place.Beera too kidnaps the cop’s people to hit him.The jungle is place where the three characters keep struggling with the animals, landscapes and fighting with each other.

In the middle of the movie the cop is falling from the bridge but the villain protects him and later the cop takes the help of Ragini to kill Beera in his den. When the husband succeeds in getting back his wife he wants his wife to undergo a polygraph test to prove herself…These are very contradictory because the husband appears to be a villain as Mani wanted to show, but its not justifying.

The movie has lots of things to see and you can keep gazing at the sceneries..What a great cinematography by Manikandan and Santosh Sivan but overall the movie lacks sense. You do not find faults with the acting skills but Vikram should have been given some more work instead the role of Ravi Kishan appears better than Vikram. Even the music is disappointing except one or two songs which you frequently hear .The composition is not the best although the lyrics of Gulzar are amazing and very fine.

You expect a lot with big names associated to the movie but the movie is disappointing.

Himesh Reshammiya is not the favourite of many music listeners but still a number of audience keep waiting to hear from him which makes his album valuable. This time he joined hands with Sameer to get some good lyrics.

‘Kajra Kajra Kajraare’ – ‘Kajra Kajra Kajraare’ is the title number where Sunidhi Chauhan comes at the start and later you can hear Reshammiya, who changes from nasal voice to full throat .This one is ok, nice to hear. A party mix number can be heard later in the album, which is also a nice number.

‘Rabba Luck Barsa’ -The number is just what one expects from Reshammiya , in which the singer tries to sing from the throat but he should have added a nasal version too to make it more a Himesh Reshmiyaan song. The lyrics are not explicable but the tunes are fine. The Party Mix number is perfect remixed version of the song.

‘Aafreen’ –Another one in the voice of the composer is in high pitch and the composition is ok.

‘Tujhe Dekh Ke Armaan Jaage’-The song ‘Tujhe Dekh Ke Armaan Jaage’ is basically based on Indian folk songs in which Reshmiyan is joined by Shreya Ghosal. This one is again an average love song.

‘Teriyan Meriyan’ – With some unique lyrics the song is another of the same genre in the voice of Reshmiyaan and a combination of sounds are used well in the song.

‘Woh Lamha Phir Se Jeena Hai’ – Reshammiya and Harshdeep Kaur get back for a track which is basically a romantic number and has effective lyrics. A party mix version of the song is also present in the album.

‘Sanu Guzara Zamana’ –The songs repeats the use of Punjabi language and Hindi mixed to unique tunes having the voices of Himesh Reshmmiya and Sunidhi Chauhan – which makes it an effective song. ‘A Lounge Mix’ version is also present in the album which is also good.

No doubt, the songs of the album will get many praises in Himesh’s fan base and some new fans may be created. The drawback is that the songs have similar lyrics and even tunes – you search for newness- , fresh tunes, inspiration and energy — the songs resemble one another in some ways.

Rating: 6/10

The film “Krantiveer – The Revolution” has a pair of unknown actors and actresses, and therefore audiences are not looking out for something great from the movie .The promotionals are not very prominent and what one can seek from the music is energy and romantic songs – to match the title. The songs of the album are composed by Sachin – Jigar and the lyrics are of Sameer.

‘Khuda Mere Khuda’ – The first song of the album is a romantic number having the voices of Shreya Ghosal and KK. The song has a regular tune – not new .This one is an average number from the composers.

‘Chhote Tera Birthday Aaya‘ – Chhote is another pappu where the so called Chhote is celebrating his birthday. The song brings in many singers together including Neuman Pinto, Ishq Bector, Anushka Manchanda, Mika Singh, Hard Kaur and Mahadev Krishna, who join in to the party.

‘Lau Jali’ – ‘Lau Jali’ is another inspirational number like Vande Matram but it has been introduced in rock style and the number is basically a situational song in the voice of Jigar.

‘Firangi Paani’ – The song is in voice of Anushka Manchanda and Master Saleem, and it is kind of song like a remix of mujra and kawaali, talking or shraab and Shabaab.

The movie has few songs and none of the songs have the potential to come in chartbusters.

Rating: 3/10
