The music of Anjaana Anjaani is one of the most waited albums because it has the so called hype as the maker of the movie claim it to be a musical of 2010.The music of the album is composed by Vishal and Shekar (who compose music only for safe zones) –

Anjaana Anjaani –For the title song Vishal Dadlani and Shilpa Rao come together .The song is ok with light beats and western style .The song has English lyrics and it gets fast in between music. The lyrics are meaningful. An electric mix version is also present in the album in the voice of Monali Thakur and Nikhil D’Souza , which is ok .The song has been presented on small screen .

Hairat : The Lucky Ali song is also a fast number with a heavy beats , as if the silky voice is loaded with drums sounds. The song is ok to hear not bad at all but may be the composers tried this one to deliver a new kind of combination. This one has a nice composition but the overall effect is average. The song is written by Vishal.

Aas Pass Khuda :The inspirational number “Aas Pass Khuda” is ok to hear but gets loud in between. The song is in voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and it is another average song of the album. An unplugged version is also present in the album in the voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shruti Pathak. This one is also written by Vishal Dadlani accompanied by Shekhar Ravjiani.

Tumse Hi Tumse : The song is in voice of Shekhar Ravjvani and Caralisa Monteiro and the song has no variation as the voices try to speak the song instead of singing and the music behind is ok — with a no variation kind of beatings. It should have been made in English instead of Hindi — the beats fit in for a English song. The song is written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and Anvita Dutt and the English lyrics are by Caralisa Monteiro.

Tujhe Bhula Diya : The song is in voice of Mohit Chauhan, Shekhar Rajvani and Shruthi Pathak .The song starts with a deep voice and Punjabi lyrics which are really meaningful that is the barishaan (- the effect of rains on couples who are not together ) .This one is one of the best of all. The song has another version called the “dance to forget “in the voice of Mohit Chauhan, Shekhar Ravjiani and Shruti. The song is written by Kumaar and Vishal Dadlani.

I Feel Excellent :The song is strictly ok in the voice of Vishal Dadlani and Shilpa Rao and it is written by Vishal. It is again the electric guitar sound and the regular beats.

Throughout the album the composers use rock music, guitar sounds and western kind of beats to make it youthful club kind of number without using variation in music in a genuine way and you don’t even get in-depth lyrics – music is superfluous (mostly are club dance numbers )except the Tujhe Bhula Diya and the title song.

Rating: 5/10

“Dabangg” is expected to deliver some great numbers because it has the duo Sajid and Wajid together joining in as composers and the lyrics are by Jalees Sherwani .

‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’ : The song ‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain ‘ is a sweet melodious number in the voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and it is one of the song which has the potential to reach charts .The song is written by lyricist Faaiz Anwaar and it has the sufi kind of tune. There is another version with Shreya Ghosal giving her voice to the song and a remixed version is also present in the album.

‘Munni Badnaam’: The song is composed by Lalit Pandit and the lyrics come from the rural background — a kind of stage dance number like “Bidi Jalile jJigar”. It is also delivered in remixed format and it has been choreographed on Malaika Arora Khan.

‘Chori Kiya Re Jiya’: This is another melodious song from the album Dabangg and it is effective due to simplicity and sweetness in rendition. The lyrics are wonderfully written by Jalees Sherwani and the song is in voice of Shreya Ghosal and Sonu Nigam, who are known to deliver melodies.

‘Udd Udd Dabangg’: It resembles “Omkara “title song .It will be the introductory song for the lead character of the film. The song is in voice of Sukhwinder and it is expected to portray the character’s strength.

‘Humka Peeni Hai’:It is a number having Wajid, Master Salim and Shabab Sabri, coming behind the mike but the song turns out to be an average number that does not entertain as expected. There is another remixed version in the album which is ok to hear.

‘Dabangg Theme’: The theme is powerful number most commonly visible in the promotional – it comes with the dialogues.

As expected the songs of the film are above average and some of the songs will reach the charts.

Rating: 6/10

The songs of the film “Madholal Keep Walking” are composed by Nayab and Raja. The movie was recently noticed in a film festival .The album does not have popular music composers. The lyrics of the songs are by Saani Aslam and Sahil Fatehpuri, and one expects the combination to deliver the Altaaf Raja kind of songs.

Naina Lage (Madholal’s Theme): The song is ok to hear because it is in voice of Bhupinder Singh and the lyrics of the song are also very nice.

Falsafa Yeh Zindagi Ka: The song is voiced by Altaf Raja and it is basically a ghazal in the voice of Altaf, and it is ok – number – to be liked by Altaf’s fans.

Khuda ke vaaste : It is a kind of qawaali in the voice of Aslam Sabri .It is ok to hear.

Naina Lage (Wife’s Theme): Pareena gets behind the mike for the same song Naina Lage and its sweet and average to hear.

Yeh Dharti: This one is an inspirational number in the voice of Raja and it is an ok song.

Naina Lage (Daughter’s Theme): The song is in the voice of Mitali Singh – sharp and shrill but it is a short song .Later the voice gets bold and it is nice to hear .

Madholal Keep Walking (Title Track): The title track comes in the end of the album and it is nice with rock kind of beatings.

The album contains a rare combination of ghazals and qawaali, which will be liked by Altaaf Raza’s fans.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy get back together to compose the music of the album and audience have great expectations from the songs because it is a Karan Johar’s film.

‘Aankhon mein neendein’ : The song is in voice of Shreya Ghosal and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and the song is a romantic number where the lyrics are written by Irshad Kamil. It’s a kind of regular romantic number without any new tunes but still it is ok to hear.

‘Dil Khol ke let’s rock’ : Kareena and Kajol come together onscreen in this song to dance on one stage who are later joined by children and Arjun , and the song is in voice of Anushka, Akriti and Suraj Jagan. It is an average song – although it should have been a fun song in the voice of lead singers.

‘Reham-O-Karam’ : The song Reham-O-Karam is in the voice of Shankar and Vishal, and the lyrics are of Irshad Kamil – this is one of the best songs of the album.

‘Hamesha and Forever’: Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal get behind the mike for the song Hamesha and Forever, and it is a soft – sweet number. It is a slow number therefore, it is not expected to get attention immediately but in the long run, it may work.

‘Sun le dua yeh aasmaan’: The song is another situational number and is a slow song in the voice of Shreya Ghosal .It is another average song from the album.

‘Theme’: In the end of the album is the theme number which is just ok to hear.

Karan’s movies are expected to deliver good songs and this one matches up to the expectations to certain extend. It lacks the regular fun stuffs – Punjabi bhangra or party songs found in Karan’s film.

Rating: 5/10

The music of the movie Udaan has been composed by Amit Trivedi and the lyrics are of Amitabh Bhattacharya.

‘Kahaani-Aankhon Ke Pardon Pe’ :The song starts with guitar sound then the singers Neuman Pinto and Joi Barua come together for a slow track, which appears like a slow rock song which brings in the theme and the mood of the song .The song states about the mindset of people who are not sure of their future.

‘Geet Mein Dhalte Lafzon Mein’ : The song has meaningful lyrics which indicates hope and a better life for people .The song is in voice of Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya.

‘Udaan-Nadi Mein Talab Hai’ : The title number Udaan matches well with the theme of the film as it tries to bring out the power of newness and energy. The song is sung by Joi Barua, Amit Trivedi and Neuman Pinto.

‘Naav-Chadhti Lehrein Laang Na Paye’ : The song resembles many of the songs of 80’s and 70’s with those lehrein lyrics. The song is fine in composition but fails to be remote. It is in the voice of Mohan, who does well.

‘Motumaster-Iski Maa Agar Isse’: The song is ok with a number of singers joining in to make fun of the school / college kind of situation which includes Raman Mahadevan, Bonnie Chakravarthy, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Kshitij Wagh, Tochi Raina, Shriram Iyer, Amit Trivedi and Anurag Kashyap. The lyrics of the song by Anurag Kashyap are fine but the song is loud.

‘Aazaadiyan-Pairon Ki Bediyan’ :This is another for the school and college hostels , where the group is enjoying with friends. The song is in voice of Amit Trivedi, Nikhil D’Souza, Neuman Pinto and Amitabh Bhattacharya.

“Theme”: The theme song of the alubm is mostly with piano and the theme can be heard for three minutes.

Most of the songs have the lyrics that belong to young college going genre and therefore, the album may get takers but it lack excellence in music to attract everybody.

The film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai has been promoted to be a movie of 70’s decade and therefore , the music album is expected to deliver some great numbers which can resemble the style of 70s.The music is composed by Pritam who is supported by Irshad Kamil, Amitabh Bhattacharya and Nilesh Mishra.

‘Pee Loon Hoto Ki Sargam’ : The first song is a nice rendition in the voice of Mohit Chauhan and the lyrics of the song is by Irshad Kamil. The song can be seen in the promotionals and it starts off well and has nice tunes even in the middle part of the song. A remixed version has also been added to the album which is also a nice song. The song is a romantic number and it attracts.

‘Tum Jo Aaye’ : The song is written by Irshad Kamil and it is a nice one in the format of Qawalli , in the voice of Tulsi Kumar and in between the lines Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also gives voice to the song.

‘Parda’ – Parda is the cabaret of 70s and the song is in voice of Sunidhi Chauhan, Anupam and Rana. This one is ok to hear and it must be a situational number which will add to the narration.

“Iam in Love” : This one is a romantic number and the lyrics are written by Nilesh Mishra. The song has been repeated three times in the album. One of the versions has KK doing the singing; the second one has Karthik giving the voice for the song. Another version is called the dance version and it is also a nice one. The song has the potential to be in chartbusters.

‘Babu Rao Mast Hai’ : Mika gives his voice to the song written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and the song has been written in a way to portrays a character. It is a mischievous number with a lot of funny meaning in the lyrics. The song is nice fun track.

The songs of Once Upon a Time in Mumbai are entertaining and the romantic numbers of the album may dominate the charts.

Music Review: Kajraare

Himesh Reshammiya is not the favourite of many music listeners but still a number of audience keep waiting to hear from him which makes his album valuable. This time he joined hands with Sameer to get some good lyrics.

‘Kajra Kajra Kajraare’ – ‘Kajra Kajra Kajraare’ is the title number where Sunidhi Chauhan comes at the start and later you can hear Reshammiya, who changes from nasal voice to full throat .This one is ok, nice to hear. A party mix number can be heard later in the album, which is also a nice number.

‘Rabba Luck Barsa’ -The number is just what one expects from Reshammiya , in which the singer tries to sing from the throat but he should have added a nasal version too to make it more a Himesh Reshmiyaan song. The lyrics are not explicable but the tunes are fine. The Party Mix number is perfect remixed version of the song.

‘Aafreen’ –Another one in the voice of the composer is in high pitch and the composition is ok.

‘Tujhe Dekh Ke Armaan Jaage’-The song ‘Tujhe Dekh Ke Armaan Jaage’ is basically based on Indian folk songs in which Reshmiyan is joined by Shreya Ghosal. This one is again an average love song.

‘Teriyan Meriyan’ – With some unique lyrics the song is another of the same genre in the voice of Reshmiyaan and a combination of sounds are used well in the song.

‘Woh Lamha Phir Se Jeena Hai’ – Reshammiya and Harshdeep Kaur get back for a track which is basically a romantic number and has effective lyrics. A party mix version of the song is also present in the album.

‘Sanu Guzara Zamana’ –The songs repeats the use of Punjabi language and Hindi mixed to unique tunes having the voices of Himesh Reshmmiya and Sunidhi Chauhan – which makes it an effective song. ‘A Lounge Mix’ version is also present in the album which is also good.

No doubt, the songs of the album will get many praises in Himesh’s fan base and some new fans may be created. The drawback is that the songs have similar lyrics and even tunes – you search for newness- , fresh tunes, inspiration and energy — the songs resemble one another in some ways.

The film “Krantiveer – The Revolution” has a pair of unknown actors and actresses, and therefore audiences are not looking out for something great from the movie .The promotionals are not very prominent and what one can seek from the music is energy and romantic songs – to match the title. The songs of the album are composed by Sachin – Jigar and the lyrics are of Sameer.

‘Khuda Mere Khuda’ – The first song of the album is a romantic number having the voices of Shreya Ghosal and KK. The song has a regular tune – not new .This one is an average number from the composers.

‘Chhote Tera Birthday Aaya‘ – Chhote is another pappu where the so called Chhote is celebrating his birthday. The song brings in many singers together including Neuman Pinto, Ishq Bector, Anushka Manchanda, Mika Singh, Hard Kaur and Mahadev Krishna, who join in to the party.

‘Lau Jali’ – ‘Lau Jali’ is another inspirational number like Vande Matram but it has been introduced in rock style and the number is basically a situational song in the voice of Jigar.

‘Firangi Paani’ – The song is in voice of Anushka Manchanda and Master Saleem, and it is kind of song like a remix of mujra and kawaali, talking or shraab and Shabaab.

The movie has few songs and none of the songs have the potential to come in chartbusters.

Rating: 3/10

Rajneeti is a Prakash Jha’s film and most of the movies made by Prakash Jha are not remembered for their music therefore nobody expects the albums to give the best scores but the presence of Ranbir and Katrina raises the need to have some good tracks. The film has a combination of composers including Pritam, Aadesh Srivastva , Wayne Sharpe (New York based composer) and Shantanu Moitra.

‘Bheegi Si Bhaagi Si’ – The track is composed by Pritam and the lyrics are of Irshad Kamil. The song is a romantic number and the duo Mohit Chauhan and Antara Mitra provide a fresh combination of voices which appears lovely on this romantic number.

‘Mora Piya’ - It is a Aadesh Srivastava number which comes with the classical touch and the Aadesh does the signing for this rather slow song which suits the movie subject. The song has not been kept purely Indian classical in fact the vocals of Rosalie Nicholsan and Shashi makes it appear to be the one for the new genre. A twilight remixed version of the number is present in the album in which the female voice of Kavita Seth can be heard.

‘Ishq Barse’ – If you do not have the rural touch, you forget its Prakash Jha’s film. So the next one Ishq Barse which reminds of the villages of Rajasthan. The vocals in the song are from Pronob Biswas and Swanand Kirkire, and the song has the voice of Hamsika Iyer. The track has been composed by Shantanu Moitra and the remixed version of the song is attractive for the Genx audience. The remixed version is called ‘The Bombay Bounce Club Mix’ and it has the potential to be a chartbusters.

‘Dhan Dhan Dharti’-Wayne Sharpe composed the song which is based on Vande Matram and the lyrics are by Gulzar .The voices are of Sonu Nigam with the guitar sound and later –Shankar Mahadevan gets back behind the mike.

A political movie should not have many songs(political subject reminds of the songs and performance of Aandhi ) and this one has a few great numbers.

Rating: 6/10

Jagmoham Mundra’s another movie after “Apartment “ is scheduled to be released soon and movie is called “Chase” and the music album of the film has been released just a few weeks before the release of the movie. Audience do not hope much from the music album of the movie because the lead stars are not very popular on big screen.

‘Get Set Go’: The promotional scenes shown on the small screen is mostly about a man running on a bike and the words“Chase Kar Le.” The title song is strong as it attracts attention immediately but not for long as the tunes gets repetitive. The beats are nice and this song also comes in a remixed version with additional beats. The song is in the voice of Wajid and it is written by Jalees Sherwani.

‘Shaam Ki’ : The song ‘Shaam Ki’ is in the voice of Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal. The track is composed by Vijay Verma and it is a good romantic number. There is also a lounge mix version of the song which tries to disrupt the serene environment found in the original version. This one is written by Manthan.

‘Ankahi Si’: Udbhav Ojha has composed this song and it is in the voice of Vasundhara Das. This one is like a suspense number, included to enhance thrills to the script. This one is a fine situational number. The song is written by Jalees Sherwani.

The songs will definitely be an advantage to the movie as the audience will be aware of something in the movie but as for the album, it may not find many takers because the numbers of songs are very less and none of the songs are chartbusters.

Rating : 4/10
