RGV Ki Aag

The movie RGV ki Aag was aggressively promoted as the remake of Sholay for new generation of audience, but after the movie has been released, we find the new movie is having the story similar to the previous one and a song Mehbooba from the earlier movie, but many other things have changed.

The movie has been hugely promoted by the director Ram Gopal Verma. The cast of the movie includes Amitabh Bachchan as Babban, Mohanlal as Inspector Narsimha, Sushmita Sen as Durga Devi, Nisha Kothari as Ghungroo, Gaurav Kapoor as Ahmed, Rajpal Yadav as Rambha Bhai, Sushant Singh as Tambhe, Prashant Raj as Raj Ranade, Ajay Devgan as Hirendra Chavan (Heero), Jeeva as Dhaania, Suchitra Krishnamurthy as Kavita.

The story of the movie is about an Inspector Narsimha, who is impressed by the courage of two young boys called Herro and Raj. The boys get into the prison due to their association to illegal people and this way they get to meet the Inspector. One day they fight an enemy to save the Inspector’s life. The Inspector is impressed by the two and hires the two to fight against the cruel criminal Babban, with whom the Inspector carries personal enmity.

The movie is smooth and picks up with the audience during the first half. It is amazing to watch the expected sequences in a different light. The second part of the movie has more of actions and noise. The typical RGV effect is prevalent in the movie. The characters are all versatile and highly expressible. All the actors have performed their roles very well.

Amitabh Bachchan is always the best. It has been a privilege to watch him in both the Sholay movies in different roles. Sushmita Sen and Ajay Devegan have performed their roles with great ease. The debutant Raj and Nisha are also impressive in their roles and not less than any of the expert actors. Mohanlal from the south cinema has also performed his role brilliantly. The Holi song and Mehbooba song are worth to be watched in the movie.

The movie has a few much popular and predicted sequences from the previous Sholay that are unable to get hold of the audience attention making them feel what’s new in this. The background beat sound is catchy and cinematography like the previous one is extremely effective. Overall the movie is good but not better than the previous Sholay. Started at a slow pace the movie will pick up soon with the audience.

The rating for the movie is 4/10.

r u insane? the movie was a blight on the name of sholay. the director has taken the camera through a rollercoaster, never allowing it to focus on any of the characters long enough. the actors are boring and completely out of thier element. jai and veeru were NOT what they were supposed to be. if you are trying to remake or even absorb inspiration from a bollywood classic, atleast make an ATTEMPT at good film making! bad music, bad screen play, bad direction. and frankly, i think this critic is either a suck up for ram gopal verma and co. or jus plain blind, and deaf!! please learn to watch the movie before writing a review, not jus look at the poster and imagine it!! DISSAPOINTING!!! (the movie as well as the critic)
