Movie Review Apna Asmaan
The movie has been screened in a few international festivals and is based on the story of couple living in Mumbai having a child with an underdeveloped brain. The movie has been made by under the banner ImaginationWorks Prod. Co. Pvt. Ltd and is produced and directed by Kaushik Roy and Umang Pahwa.
The cast in the movie includes Shobana as Padmini Kumar, Irrfan Khan as Ravi Kumar, Anupam Kher as Dr. Sathya, Rajat Kapoor as Dr. Sen, Dhruv Piyush Panjnani as Buddhi, Utkarsha Naik as Mrs. Sharma, Nassar Abdulla as Mr. Sharma, Barkha Singh as Pinky Sharma.The story of the movie is also of Kaushik Roy. The music of the movie has been directed by Leslie Lewis.
Story of the movie is of metropolitan India, Mumbai where a young couple is trying to adjust to each other after marriage. The ambitious wife leaves classical dancing to keep up with the needs of house and the husband is a wage earner.
The two are faced with more challenges when they realize that their growing teenager son has a dull brain.The two wish their son to be a brilliant child and injects him with the help of a doctor the brain power injection. After taking the injection their son turns into a brilliant boy and they face more problems in life.
The story is about the couple having too many wishes and as they try to use shortcuts in life they are facing more problems. The movie is not a completely commercial movie and also not the non-commercial one.
The movie story is a bit confusing and misdirected to go nowhere. The conclusion from the story cannot be made clearly. The actors Irrfan and Shobana are great performer and they proved again. The other roles in the movie are less significant ones.
The songs of the movie have been sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Shreya Ghosal, Chitra, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and lyrics are by Mehboob. The music is an average one.
Rating for the movie is 6/10
