Showbiz: Please, excuse the ladiesShowbiz: Please, excuse the ladies i recently came across this news clipping which said that the Escorts website, where you hire a body for a night, has a posting of actress Tanushree Dutta. it said that you can hire the beauty queen for a night at a meagre expense. Her reaction is of shock and and embarrasement. So, are the dream girls of millions of hearts, really tainted or are they a soft target for the ever-expanding internet-initiated porn culture and our degrading mind-set?What role does a female play in the showbiz? is she only required to satisfy the deep carnal desires of the male lot? How many of you actually adore the talent of an actress and not just her protuding curves? Not many i suppose. i ‘m surprised to know as to how you can label an actress as a ‘tainted’ even when you might have read about it only in a daily or on your most visited websites. Wake up guys! it’s high time that you to gave a breathing space to the ladies of the glam world. in Bollywood, women-oriented cinema was the most acclaimed in the global circuit. The fairer sex didn’t merely fill in the space of a bikini-clad, hip-gyrating wax queen. The essence and true feel of a woman was an integral part of every emotion on the big screen. Today, Bollywood has several glam dolls, few actresses, but majorly tagged as “easy-to-sleep-with” girls. Such an image of a Bollywood actress has been created due to the money-minded market strategy of current generation film-makers. And their excuse: we dish out what is asked for. Now who are they to decide as to what does the audience actually want, but what it is enticed to focus upon. One of my friends working for an entertainment website, passed on a news that high stature actresses like Ash, Amisha, Rani, Priety etc. do a lot of ’sleeping around’ job. Shocked? So was i. Such small tit-bits can be disturbing especially if you are a female like me. But, for the guys whose hormones are on a full blast, putting stuff on the internet, projecting false images of only the female artists on the websites, scream out a question in cohesion: is the media gender-bias? if sex sells and gossip works, then why not dig into the past love lives of industry hunks like Abhishek, John Abraham et al. Why do we label an Aishwarya Rai as “an affordable commodity” on sale at many sites. it’s her life and it’s her own way of leading it. Oh yes! Being a public figure is a crime. But how many times have we come across an article on John Abraham’s infamous split with Riya Sen few years back. The reason is simple: tarnish an actress’ image, it will fetch you bucks. Ever since a female dreams of entering into showbiz, she’s a soft target for the society. Her parents find it unethical, her lover is discouraging with the idea. And then the casting ‘ouch’! if one can survive that horror or even not, what lies ahead is much worse. Hundreds of starlets find themselves on every other porn site and videos, a lucrative music video offer etc. if you reach anywhere near Aishwarya’s stature , then you are sure to be stamped off as someone sleeping with their producers and directors. Some of you may argue that where there is smoke, there’s bound to be a fire. But, i would say even the fire has been ignited by you. in the industry, even an actor can be a soft target. Gay men in the industry are common. Many wannabe models and actors find it hard escaping many of their offers. Many end up falling a prey to their traps. But, are they labelled with any derrogative tag? No. Lastly, i would like to ask you, dont you think it’s the media that wants you to believe that actresses are only good at ’sleeping around’. i want you to answer as to what made you believe that a simpleton Rani is more suitable than a glamorous Ash for Abhishek? Why is media especially the internet promoting some and degrading other actresses? Do you have an answer to my questions? Last 5 posts in Main
