53rd National Award Distribution in New Delhi
Finally the 53rd National awards have been distributed to the candidates after much controversy. The ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi and the award distribution has been delayed by two years due to the case filed against the selection of candidates for the awards.
The Best Actor was bagged by Amitabh Bachchan for the movie Black.
The Best Actress award was given to Saarika for the movie Parzaania, the story of the movie is based on Gujarat riots and the movie was not released by the Gujarat government in the state.
Rahul Dholakia got the Best Director award for Parzania.
Best Feature film award was given to Kaalpurush
Rang De Basanti got the award for the most entertaining movie. It was awarded the Best Popular Film, Best Audiography, Best Editing and Best Male Playback singer. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had directed the movie.
Pradeep Sarkar got the Indira Gandhi Award for directing the movie Parineeta.
Black by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was awarded the Best Feature Film award in Hindi.
Best children’s film Swarn Kamal Award was given to the movie Blue Umbrella directed by Vishal Bharadwaj.
Best Supporting actor and actress award was won by Naseeruddin Shah and Urvashi. Anupam Kher got the Special Jury award for Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara.
Nargis Dutt Award was given away to Jayaraj for the Malayalam film Daivanamathil
Kannada movie Thutturi got the Best Film on Environment Conservation award.
Naseeruddin Shah and Urvashi won the Best Supporting actor and actresses for Iqbal and Malayalam film Achhuvinte Amma respectively.
Rajat Kamal Best Playback Singers male and female were backed by Naresh Iyer and Shreya Goshal
