Prashant was initially insulted by a co-participant girl from Punjab, who refused to give a performance along with him in a duet round, in the initial weeks of contest Indian Idol 3.
But the end of the program was the proud day for Prashant Tamang, his family, the North-East India and Kolkata police, as the 24 year old, constable in Darjeeling police, received the maximum votes from the audience and won the Indian Idol contest. He got a Maruti car and contract of 1 crore rupee on winning.
