Movie Review: Khoya Khoya ChandMovie Review: Khoya Khoya Chand Producer: Prakash Jha Director: Sudhir Mishra Star Cast: Shiney Ahuja as Zaffar, Soha Ali Khan as Nikhat, Soniya Jehan as Ratanbala, Rajat Kapoor as Prem Kumar, Vinay Pathak as Shaymol, Sushmita Mukherjee as Sharda, Dipannita Sharma as Kumar’s fiancé, Yusuf Hussain, Pradeep Kharab ,Hyder Ali, Saurabh Shukla as Khosa, Alka Pradhan, Ashish Ghosh Music Director: Shantanu Moitra Cinematography: Sachin Kumar Krishnan Story Writer: Sudhir Mishra
The story of the movie take you to 1950 when Nikhat is trying to be an actress with the help of a superstar Prem Kumar and she succeeds in her mission but after getting forcefully bonded to Prem Kumar. Zafar is a writer who helps Nikhat to get away from Prem Kumar’s forceful binding. The story of the movie is about the way the artists used to talk, behave and their living styles. The difference in the reel life and real life of an actor and actress in the 50’s and 60’s decade is depicted in the movie. In many scenes the actress really looks like Meena Kumari, Madhuballa and her mother Sharmila Tagore. The look of the movie is grasping. The problem with the movie is its weak script and end of the movie is also not a strong one. The music of the movie is good and cinematography is also lovely. The costumes by Ashima Belapurkar and Niharika Khan is superbly done to match the era of 1960’s that was called the most fashionable era of Indian cinema. The performance of all the actors Shiney, Soha and Rajat Kapoor are exceptional. Soha Ali Khan looks many times like her mother and like the other actresses of the era shown. Sonya Jehan. Saurabh Shukla and Vinay Pathak are simply brilliant. The movie will be liked by most of the viewers but not by the audience who are searching for typical masala comedy movies.
