B.O. Update: Baabul creeps up, D2 & Vivah big hits

After a lukewarm start in its first week after release, Ravi Chopra’s Baabul is slowly climbing up the ladder. Dhoom 2 continues sizzle, rule and break records at the ticket windows across the nation and the international markets as well.

The Barjataya hit “Vivah” is doing great at all the circuits in the domestic audiences and above average business in the overseas markets as well. Apna Sapna Money Money continues to do average business at some places.

The top 5 movies for this week at the Box Office are given below:

Baabul: B.R. Films’ family drama countering the serious issue “widow remarriage” in a very commercial back-drop is finally drawing in audiences to the theatres. The film got a slow start and a lukewarm respomse from the audience who were already bored of the family business of the Chopra clan. The movie then picked up at the weekends and is doing well mainly at the multplexes and is an average at the single-screen theatres. it has already earned 4,04,899 in its first week, the best of the week.

Dhoom 2: Sanjay Gadhvi’s highly entertaining and thrilling venture has been tipped as face of the year 2006 with its record breaking success all across the country and is going strong even in its 3rd week. The movie sizzles at the international theatres becoming the most successful at the Brazil and Canadian theatres. it has already earned 3,59,968 just below at 2nd position behind Baabul this week. The movie has been declared as a blockbuster hit of the year.

Vivah:Sooraj Barjataya’s film finally see a good show at the box office even in its 5th week after major debacles like Hum Saath Saath Hain and Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon. Vivah is doing immense business and has been declared as a superhit film from the Barjataya clan. it has earned 1,07,549 and is at the third position for the week.

Apna Sapna Money Money: Raju Farooqui’s above average successful attempt at a slap-stick comedy is more than just a non-stop comedy but is also packed with good performances and good comic timings from its actors. Hot babes and Ritesh Deshmukh’s “female” factor has helped the movie do good business at most of the places in its 5th week showings. it has earned 31,829 for this week slipping to 4th position after Baabul’s release from its last week’s 3rd position.

With Luv… Tumhara: The movie had a poor show at all places and was declared as a flop in its 2nd week itself. The movie lacked a real good script and was filled with average performances who anyway had no scope for performing with such a poor screenplay and storyline. it earned 13,342 at the end of its 2nd week showings.
