Who is RK banner’s heir?

RK banner is the identity of Raj Kapoor and the name of Kapoor family has been long associated to Bollywood. Prithviraj Kapoor was the initial name associated to Bollywood who was father of Raj Kapoor and even the younger generation of India can identify Prithviraj Kapoor through the colored version Mughal-E-Aazm.

Raj Kapoor initiated his career as an assistant to a director and later made his banner RK Banner. The movies made under RK banner carried the Kapoor identity along with the identity of Raj Kapoor who was the initial showman of Indian Industry.

Raj Kapoor made many movies Awaara, Mera Naam Joker, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Aa Ab Laut Chale etc that were experimental and innovative and it made the Kapoors different from the other people associated to the Bollywood. Raj Kapoor also showed the three generations of Kapoors in his movies Kal Aaj Aur Kal.

After Raj Kapoor made RK banner and collected all his family members under one banner, it was expected that there are many who will continue making movies under the banner to increase its fame but the Kapoors stayed attached to their individual acting careers and the banner did not get a heir as such. Rishi Kapoor tried to make movies under RK banner but the movies made were not successful as the Raj Kapoor movies used to be.

The latest entry of Ranbir Kapoor into the Industry has made people to believe that the Kapoor banner RK has got an heir to it. Ranbir started his career as an assistant to director and later entered into movies giving a first-rate performance in Saawariya that was hugely praised by the audience. After the release of Saawariya it was accepted by Ranbir in media that he will carry forward the name of Kapoors in Bollywood.

Incidentally, Bollywood never had Kapoors away from the Industry, even when RK banner was not releasing movies, Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor and others from the Kapoor family were delivering their works to the audience that was getting praised by the audience and fans had accepted the Kapoor ladies as an official heir to the Kapoors. For audience the introduction of Ranbir to Bollywood is just an addition to the number of heirs to the Kapoors.
