The last week of the year is just waiting to get finished and the audiences are waiting for the last two or three movies to release for the year. The last week of the year 2007 will have the animation movie release Return of Hanuman which is a sequel of the hit movie Hanuman. The movie is expected to be a grosser this year as well.
The previous week box office in India and overseas saw a marked grossings by the movie makers for the two movies Welcome and Taare Zameen Par. Both the movies are getting good number of audiences. The week being a Christmas week was a holiday’s week for the kids who went to the theatres to watch the movie Taare Zameen Par taking their parents along with them and both liked the emotional movie. The movie Taare… will gain popularity in the weeks to come.
The movie Welcome is also getting huge viewers. The actors in the movie Anil Kapoor and Akshay Khanna are getting praised for their performances. Even in the overseas market the movie collection is huge. In UK Welcome grossed £70,000 (approx) in the initial week and this is the first movie of Akshay Kumar that grossed huge revenue at UK box office.
The dull marketing by the Strangers team damaged the movie predominance in the overseas and Indian market. The movie had further reduction in sale of tickets after the release of the two big movies in the last week. The other movies that were being shown in the last few weeks were Dus Kahaniyaan and Khoya Khoya Chand are loosing market with the new releases.
Dus Kahaniyaan made a total of 30-34 crore at the box office and other movies of previous weeks were able to make profits in lakhs in the metro cities of India. Welcome and Taare Zameen Par will get their collections in crores in Indian metro cities and even better collections in the overseas market.
