Music Review: Yaariyan

The Punjabi music generally runs parallel to the mainstream Hindi Bollywood music and the dominating enthusiastic music of Punjab gets remixed with the Hindi version to reach its audiences.
yaariyan
But in the movie Yaariyan has the original sounds of Punjab though the music of the album has been composed by set of Bollywood composers Onkar, Jaidev Kumar, Sachin Ahuja and Aadesh Shrivastava.

Yaariyan –The first track has two lead singers Gurdas Mann and Sukhwinder Singh singing the song with a western touch that makes to jump to the beats.

Yaariyan (Remix) –The remix version is a great number to hear. The dhol beats are moving as ever.

Wajda Tunak Tunak Ik Tara –This is a solo song by Gurdas Mann and the original Punjabi folk music enhances the flavor of the song. The song is composed by Jaidev Kumar and the Punjabi audience in all parts of world will like to hear the desi song.

Bada Kuchh Kehna Hai –The piano sound in the song is good to hear again after so many albums without it and the voices of Sonu Nigam’s and Tarannum’s are energetic to catch. The song has been composed by Sachin Ahuja.

Watan Door Lage Ne Mele –The song has been sung by Gurdas Mann and Feroz Khan and is too folky and the music is maintained to keep its outcome get in the original format. No remixing effects and other attractive feature has been added to the song to appeal to all the audience.

Ki Aye Kise Da Kasoor –The song has been sung by Sadhna Sargam and is a female solo song composed by Onkar. The song is average.

‘C’mon C’mon’ –The Aadesh Shrivastava’s touch makes the album unique when you her song ‘C’mon C’mon’ sung by Sonu Nigam and Alisha Chinoy. The instrumental makes the song to have western touch and this song is good.

‘Time Chakna’ –Again the last song goes out to the traditional format and the song has been sung and composed by Onkar himself and he is well versed in a singing a truly traditional song except a few interrupting lines in English.

The album will be liked by the Pubjani’s who like the traditional songs, otherwise for general audience who do not understand the lyrics will not enjoy all the songs of the album except a ‘C’mon C’mon’ and the title song Yaariyan.
