Movie Review: Tulsi

Many movies go unnoticed for not being promoted and one such movie is Tulsi. The movie Tulsi got released on 18th January 2008.

The movie has Manisha Koirala in the lead role and like many of her previous movies she is again with a subject on women in India but with a difference. The movie also has the talented actor Irrfan Khan in the lead role.

The story of the movie is about a family having a mother Tulsi and a drunkard father Suraj. Tulsi has four kids and her husband is unsupportive who is away with friends in the evenings for his drinking habits.

One evening one of the friends of Suraj try to molest Tulsi and when Suraj gets informed of the misdeed he beats his friend Yashpal badly. His friend feels insulted to make plans to take revenge on Suraj. Yashpal kills Suraj and his wife Tulsi is diagnosed by the doctor for blood cancer.

Now Tulsi has no option for her kids but to get them adapted to different families. The movie has an emotional story of a family that gets disturbed due to the trying circumstances.

The movie has good direction from the K. Ajay Kumar. Cinematography is good and the music is fine. The performance by the lead cast is good. Manisha Koirala and Irrfan are good in their roles. The movie has not been promoted and that is the biggest disadvantage of the movie. The movie may run in a few small cities and regions but mostly it has rare chance to make money on the box –office.
