Black & White is entertaining movie with awaking message. Subhash Ghai known for making movies having large screens and lots of colors and dances, tries his hands at a different kind of cinema with the movie Black & White that is more like a Black and White movie from Subhash Ghai who generally makes colorful masala cinema. The movie is good for its direction and performance by the debutant Anurag Sinha, Anil Kapoor and Shefali .This is another movie on terrorism but goes into psychology of the person who is a terrorist.

The story of the movie is about a professor Rajan Mathur who teaches Urdu in Delhi University College and his socially active wife Roma Mathur. The middle class scholar couple lives in Chandani Chawk. A new man Numair enters their life gaining sympathy for being a person who suffered communal riots in Gujarat. He gets all the attention and care of the couple who is unknowingly helping a boy who has intentions of killing people for his militant group. He has been given the work of playing a suicide bomber during the national function of Independence Day at the historical monument Red Fort.

Numair meets people living in Chandani Chawk where people of all religions are living together in harmonmy. He meets Shagifta, Miya – the 84 year old patriotic Muslim, Rahat – a Sufi pop singer .All these diverts his aim and he starts thinking about these people who are helping him. He finds that the fundamentalist mission given to him is erratic and he feels guilty for his doings it.

All these results in him bringing out a different end to the story planned by his militant group and that is what the movie shows. The movie shows that the immature minds of youngsters are shaped with fundamentalist ideas and they are just unaware of the prevalent real things in life.

The director of the movie is great showman and he is good at his job even in this movie. The script has a few weaknesses that are unable to catch the audience well. The actors of the movie Anurag Sinha, Anil Kapoor and Shefali are extremely strong with their roles and that makes its worth watching. There are many memorable and striking scenes like Shefali getting killed and last few minutes scenes. The music of the movie is lovely by Sukhwinder Singh. Movie will be generally liked by metro city audiences who are watching movies like Taare Zameen Par, Mithya or Bheja Fry.

Rating: 8/10
