Music Review: Kahaani Gudiya Ki

The Prabhakar Shukla directed movie Kahaani Gudiya Ki is based on the real story of a women from Meerut and the music of the movie had been composed by Vivek Prakash. The attraction of the music of the movie is the presence of Jagjit Singh and ghazals. The lyrics of the songs in the album have been written by Madan Pal.

(The album is not for party goers going for western rocky and high pitch beats.)

“Dard Apna Likh Na Payee” –The meaningful lyrics and voice of Jagjit Singh are competent enough to get the pain in the song out to the listeners. This one is an impressive ghazal with sad mood.

“Dua Qabool Karo” –The song has been sung by Habib Sabri and is similar to “quawalli “but the song does not have the general attraction of Sufi songs.

“Jis Rut Mein Chudiyaan “–The exacting singer Sadhana Sargam this time is not efficient in delivering the celebrations of the song and the background beats are also low in mood.

“Gudiya Tujh Par Ik Pal “-The Jagjit Singh song “Gudiya Tujh Par Ik Pal” tells the life story of the lady named Gudiya and the voice of Jagjit Singh makes it good to listen. The song is not for those who get depressed to listen to sad kind of music but it is for ghazal takers who go for meaningful lyrics and low beat songs.

“Gudiya Tujh Par Ik Pal “(Instrumental) – The flute music has been played by Rakesh Chaurasiya and in parts violin sound has also been added. The music is good to hear.

“Har Ek Faisla Har Imtehaan “– The song has been well written by Vivek Prakash and the voice is of Jagjit Singh. This song is descriptive of the story of the movie stating the suffering of the lead character of the movie. This is not the one that can go up in the charts.

The songs of the movie are not very entertaining but the ghazal listeners will not be missing the Jagjit Singh’s song.
