Music Review: Dasvatharam

Unexpectedly it is Himesh Reshammiya who composed the music for the Kamal Hassan’s movie “Dasvatharam” and Himesh changes his style to match the need of the subject of the movie that shows Kamal in ten different human forms.

“Koi Tumsa (Come Dance with Me)”-This is Indian classical kind of song with rock music, a rare combination of Tabla –Sarangi and disco beats can be heard in the song. The song has been written by Sameer and sung by Vineet.

“Om Namo Narayan”-This song is devotional “Vishnu Stuti “having Sanskrit Shlokas and it has been sung by Hariharan and the presence of temple, palaces and a devotional place can be felt in the music that has the sounds of “Shankh” and”Bells” .The song has been made with reference to Rangrajan Nambi, a devotee. This one is good devotional spiritually uplifting song.

“Oh Ho Sanam”- Shaan and Mahalaxmi Iyer come together for the song that is party kind of song full of electronic sounds and rock concert music. The lyrics of Sameer are effective in this one. Another version of the song is the DJ “club” remix and that too is equally impressive.

“Mukundha Mukundha”-The sounds of “sitar “,beats of mridangam, ghattam and many other instruments make the song devotional south Indian kind of song ,that is basically a bhajan sung by Sadhna Sargam and the song has been written by Sameer who explains the various forms of lord Vishnu in the song .This one is also an impressive devotional song.

“Hey Black Ho Ya White”-The song has been cinematographed on Mallika Shehrawat and it is a pop-disco kind of song that has been sung by Shalini Singh and the music is good.

The music of the album is impressive and has two varieties of songs one that matches the tastes of party goers’ youngsters and other is with devotional music, that is mostly found in south Indian style of devotional songs and the songs have the potential to stay long in charts.
