Deepa Sahi is back to bollywood movies with the film “Rang Rasiya / Colors of Passion”. The film is directed by Ketan Mehta and produced by Deepa Sahi and Anand Mahendroo .The script of the movie is based on the real life story of the famous painter Raja Ravi Varma.

The painter Raja Ravi Varma was born in Kerala in the year 1848 and he was criticized by social groups for not adapting regional painting traditions .He made paintings that reduced godly creatures to common man. Raja Ravi Varma was married to Rani Bhageerathi Bayi who belonged to a Royal Family and he had three sons and two daughters.

The movie story is based on the relation of Raja Ravi Varma with his muse Sugandha. The role of Sugansha is played by Nandana Sen and the passion prevalent in the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma is picked up as a subject by the film. Raja Ravi Varma was charged of painting immoral paintings depicting Hindu gods and he was arrested for his works.
He meets Sugandha, who is a muse and she matches the imagination of beauty that Raja Ravi Varma has in his mind. Sugandha turns out to be inspiration for Raja Ravi Verma who paints her in form of god.

He painted many paintings taking Sugandha his subject and Sugandha paid the price of posing for his paintings.
