After the runaway success of Salaam Namaste, director Siddharth Anand has set base in the US for his current project, tentatively titled Tara Rum Pum. A YashChopra Production, this one has Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee in the lead. The supporting cast also includes Victor Banerjee and Shruti Seth and the movie will see a 2007 release.

The film is a modern love story set in the US. It deals with a family, consisting of father, mother and two children, Priya and Ranveer. When their father (Saif Ali Khan), a famous racer, has an accident, the perfect life of the family gets turned up-side-down.The movie deals with a life of Car racer, played by Saif, how his life gets changed after one severe crash on the circuit. It is a lighthearted tale of a relationship of mutual love and conflict between the two characters played by Saif and Rani.

Rani Mukherjee is shedding her simple look for a different avatar – glamorous, attractive and sexy one in Tara Rum Pum. Not only is Rani sporting an entirely different hairstyle in the film and also wearing very western outfits. It is currently being shot in New York. The movie brings Rani and Saif Ali Khan together again. Saif has grown back his hair and also shaved off his stubble.

Director Siddharth Anand, this time has tried something different from his last attempt Salaam Namaste, which was loosely inspired from various popular Comedy Soap – Friends. It was also in the news recently as Aditya Chopra has spent a hefty amount of Rs. 2.5 Crore to shoot a live Grand Prix-like race in the US conducted by the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA).

Saif Ali Khan plays Adi whereas Rani Mukherjee plays the character of Shona. Victor Banerjee of Joggers Park play Rani’s father in the movie. The film is being shot entirely in the United States of America.

The film re-unites Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee after the success of their last film Hum Tum (2004). The working title of the film was originally Don’t Worry Be Happy. The title was originally Tara Rum Pum Pum. Although ‘Salaam Namaste’ starred Preity Zinta, Siddharth makes it clear that he would love to work with Preity again but had to opt for Rani as she suited the role better.

Abhishek Bachchan who has done cameo in ‘Salaam Namaste’ will have a brief appearance here as well. The film is currently being shot in Manhattan and is produced under Yash Raj Film’s banner. ‘Tara Rum Pum Pum’ will be a love story with ample doses of light humour.
