Weekly box- office report

Three movies are waiting to get released on the coming Friday. Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan starrer, Kunal Kohli and Yash Raj Banner produced film “Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic,” the title contender “Thodi Life Thoda Magic” and the movie “Via Darjeeling “(less glamorous, real life kind of suspense story). All the three movies are low in promotion.

The last week’s released films were “Haal-E-Dil,”” Khushboo” and “De Taali”. The film “Khushboo” was a Pahlaj Nihalani’s movie, “Haal-E-Dil” was a Kumar Mangat’s film and “De Taali” was Rising Star Entertainment’s film. “De Taali” was a comedy and it faired best of the three on the box –office but still the collection of “De-Taali” was below average. The film “Haal-e-Dil” started low and “Khushboo” couldn’t create any fragrance on the box-office.

The previous week’s movies Priyadarshan’s “Mere Baap Pehle Aap” had a low weekend collection after having a promising start. The film made Rs 15.85 crores from the sale of tickets in India.” Summer 2007” got a collections below 40 lakhs from the sale of tickets at the box-office and the Ram Gopal Varma’s film “Sarkar Raj” could make a total collection of Rs 30.75 crores in the two week of its release. The film was highly promoted and it is expected that the film may recover its costs from the ticket sales.

The only film that got a constant and increased collection was film “Aamir” that had a low start of just 5% but it showed a increase in collections as the weeks proceeded. The Rajeev Khandelwal’s debuting film “Aamir” was having encouraging music that got audience and the performance of the actor was also attracting audience to watch the movie in theatres. The film was made with a low budget of Rs 2 crores and it has recovered more than its cost.
