The film “Mehbooba†is outdated but the film has some attractions that will make small towns audience to go to the theatres and watch the film that makes you remember the kind of movies that were being made some 15 years back. Even the multiplexes in metros may find audience for the film. The film will attract audience who loved movies like “Maine Pyaar Kiyaa†and repeatedly watched such movies for huge sets, costumes, cinematography, dances and family celebrations. The best part of the film is that its music by Ismail Darbar is hearable and different.
The story of the film is about a rich man living in New York, Shravan who always gets everything in life from his money. He has many girlfriends and once he meets a girl called Varsha. The girl is not interested in Shravan and Shravan reaches her home to ask for hands for marriage and Varsha’s parents are happy for the marriage offer given by Shravan. Varsha agrees to the marriage after much consideration. Varsha and Shravan get engaged and after some time, the two spend night together .The next day Shravan says that he cheated Varsha to get her.
Varsha leaves Shravan and her new home is in Budapest. After some years once Shravan is informed that his younger brother Karan as going to get married and when Shravan reached to wish his brother on his marriage, he finds that the girl with whom Karan is to get married is Varsha.
The story of the film is a love triangle and it is old script .The dance numbers and songs have been shot well in the film and locations are also attractive. The script and songs appear to be old-fashioned. Performance of Sanjay Dutt, Ajay and Manisha Koirala is ok. Manisha looks beautiful in the film. The 80’s actor Kader Khan is also present in the film with similar role.
The film is different from the kind of movies released in this decade but the movie may attract audience in small cities.
Rating: 4/10
