The story of the film “Nauka Dubi” is about a man Ramesh who is in love with a girl named Hemnalini and he agrees to get into a marriage on the suggestion of his parents without even knowing and looking at the girl with whom he is getting married .During the marriage function, the village where the marriage is being held get flooded with water from the nearby river and it is said that the bride and Ramesh’s father gets drowned in the floods.

Later Ramesh meets a girl Kamala who is a widow and she lost her husband immediately after her marriage. Ramesh marries Hemnalini and it is found that Kamala’s husband is not dead. The script of the film is based on the novel written by Rabindranath Tagore in which the writer tries to depict the incident of wife swapping caused by circumstances. The film made in 1946 was made by Bengali director Nitin Bose.

Rituparno Ghosh is coming up with a film based on wife sapping called “Nauka Dubi” .A Bengali and a Hindi film was made in the year 1946 based on the script of “Nauka Dubi “that has been taken by Rituparno. In the Bengali film, Abhi Bhattacharya was playing the lead role and in the Hindi film Dilip Kumar. In 1960 the film “Ghunghat” had the same script.

In the latest Bengali movie “Nauka Dubi” based on the script of old film “Nauka Dubi” , the Sen sisters Raima Sen and Riya Sen will play the wives in the film. The film by Rituporno Ghosh will have actors Priyanshu Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta playing the husbands of Sen sisters who are not playing sisters in the film.

Raima has earlier worked with the Bengali director Rituparno in the film “Chokher Bali “ along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Raima has been saying that she will better do a good Bengali film than doing a rather low scripted Hindi movie.
