The 10th Osian’s Cinefan festival in New Delhi was marked by the screening of the film “Mumbai Cutting.” The film has 11 stories about Mumbai and the film shows the city culture .Each story of the film is of about 11 minutes. The films have been directed by Rituparno Ghosh, Anurag Kashyap, Shashank Ghosh, Sudhir Mishra, Revathi, Jahnu Barua, Rahul Dholakia, Ayush Raina, Ruchi Narain, Kundan Shah and Manish Jha.

The film is produced by White Cloud and it is presented by Sahara One Motion Pictures and the stories depict the realities of the city Mumbai. One of the stories is of man and woman who lost their relatives and they get close in the process of remembering their people. Another story is of a hard working labor woman who wants a fake passport and want to reach Middle East to work in homes and earn money for her family but when she realizes the truths of going to Middle East, she withdraws from her plan. The story of a man who wants to be an actor and he runs across the street to reach audition.

The Sudhir Mishra’s film “The Ball” where a boy develops obsession for a bright red ball and Soha in a simple role, looks grounded, matching the Mumbai characters. The local train traveling in Mumbai and the workers class in Mumbai, common man dreaming of making it big in the big cruel city, people coming out of fantasy world and a social worker who wants to help a child.

The metro city that is basically the glamour world of bollywood is just not present in the film that is similar to “Dus Kahaniyaan” because it shows stories with an awaking script and the film also shows those parts of the city that is generally not captured by Indian cinema. The short films of the film ‘Mumbai Cutting’ has excellent performance from the lead actors.
