Movie Review: Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam

Sanjay Chhel’s “Maan Gaye Mughal –E-Aazm” tries to mock the historically famous love story of Saleem and Anaarkali through a erratic drama and the film also has an underneath story of a criminal who joined the drama company and he is getting traced by a secret agent. The film has too many stories and lots of dramas that get weird on depiction. The humor is unclear and the debuting director can be held for the problems in the film. The film has no support from music or cinematography.

The film had a plot to make it highly comical venture but it’s sad that the movie looks to have not content. The film has the sexy Mallika Sherawat who plays Anarkali in a drama company and her husband is Paresh Rawal who plays the role of old Akbar in the drama of Mughla-E-Aazm. A new boy joins the company and he plays Saleem and the husband dislikes his wife doing the love role with the new boy in the company.

Then a person a Ghazal singer, who is basically a criminal, joins the drama company and lately it is found that the new boy who joined the drama company was basically a secret agent who is after the criminal in the same drama company. The film also shows that an underworld criminal named Dawood who sends RDX to the coastal areas of Goa where the drama is held.

The film even shows Rahul running with Kay Kay’s corpse like the “Jaane Bhi Do Yaroon” sequence. It is a forced and unwanted depiction. The film could have been directed properly to make it a successful movie. The screenplay is poor and the fun part is stretched that make it boring. The performance of actors is ok. Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon are average and Rahul looks confused in most of the scenes. Mallika is average.

The film will attract audience for the subject that is for comedy but the film lack the capacity to sustain audience.
