“The Last Lear” inspired from Utpal Dutt’s play

Utpal Dutt played father in many Hindi movies and he is a prominent actor of Bengali cinema who did movies and dramas in Bengali. The film “The Last Lear” that is ready to be released in Hindi in the coming month is the film directed by Rituparno Ghosh and the film script is written by Rituparno Ghosh and Utpal Dutt.

The movie has been made originally in English and it is based on the Utpal Dutt’s play in Bengali “Aajker Shahjahan” .The film started making in February 2007 and it completed shooting by April 2007.The lead actors in the film are Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Shefali Shah , Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta and Jisshu Sengupta. Most of the shooting of the film has been done in the Northern hilly areas of India, in Uttaranchal at Mussoorie.

The film was ready to release by August 2007 and was premiered in 2007 at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9.The film was praised by U.S. media for performance of Amitabh Bachchan and the film was also screened in London Film Festival, and the International Film Festival of India in Goa.

The film is produced by Arindam Chaudhuri and many critics who watched the intense performance of Amitabh Bachchan, said that the film has the best performance of Amitabh Bachchan .The film shows the story of an actor who is very ill and almost on his death bed, after getting injured trying to act in the way he was directed in a film. The film got positive response from the international critics’ community in America and U.K.
