Music Review: Welcome to Sajjanpur

The film “Welcome to Sajjanpur” is also known “Mahadev ka Sajjanpur” and it is a film directed by Shyam Benegal .The film’s music has been composed by music director Shantanu Moitra. The film is a comedy with rural background and the lead roles in the film are played by Shreyas Talpade and Amrita Rao. There are seven songs in the music album of the film which has one remixed version.

Sitaram Sitaram: The song is basically a Bhajan and it is in voice of K K and it brings out the energy along with devotional feeling. The song is energetic and it is also present in a remixed version with additional beatings and the remixed song is also in voice of K.K. Ashok Mishra has written the lyrics of the song that is like “Chitti Aayi Na Paktri Aayi Na Aaya Telegram Re” and the traditional Indian tabla beats can be heard in the song.

Ek Meetha Marz De Ke: The song is in voice of Madhushree and Mohit Chauhan and the lyrics of the song is hearable. Swanand Kirkire has written the lyrics of the song.the sogn are filled up with Indian music.

Bheeni Bheeni Mehki Mehki: The song “Bheeni Bheeni Mehki Mehki” is a sweet loving number in the voice of K K and Shreya Ghoshal and the lyrics of this song is also attractive and hearable. Swanand Kirkire has written the lyrics of the song.

Dildara Dildara: The fast song by Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam “Dildara Dildara” is ideal village song that brings out the rural feel and even the lyrics have been written to match the concept. The song should have rural voice to match the kind of song.

Aadmi Azaad Hai Desh : “Aadmi Azaad Hai Desh” is a rustic small town “nautanki “(drama on stage) number and the vocals are grounded and realistically spoken. The vocals are in voice of Kailash Kher.

Munni Ki Baari :The track is like a small town nautanki called “Munni Ki Baari” in the voice of Ajay Jhingran and the song looks to be an amazing situational number. The lyrics of the song are brilliant.

The songs are no western or classical or Punjabi bhangra or disco rock numbers but overall the feel of the song is small town fun matching the script of the film. After a long gap such kind of rural simple Indian music has been released.
