Music Review: Dostana

The film “Dostana” is a Karan Johar movie and one can expect the music to have some attraction to fetch listners .The previous albums of Karan Johar movies were all hit and this time again the songs are youthful, fun, party dance numbers having hinglish Punjabi lyrics, Punjabi bhangras and romantic songs. The music of the album has been composed by Vishal and Shekhar.

‘Jaane Kyun’ – The song ‘Jaane Kyun’ is a youthful fun number in voice of Vishal Dadlani and the lyrics of the song has been written by Anvita Dutt Guptan. The song theme is “how youngsters love the unconditional ways of living.”

‘Desi Girl’ – The song has been written by Kumar and the song has vocals of Shankar Mahadevan and Sunidhi Chauhan along with Vishal Dadlani and one can expect the three leads in the movie appearing in this song that is basically a party dance number. The lyrics are easy and catchy. The beats are fast, quick and effective and you have inputs of Punjabi lyrics and you even hear Dhol beats in between.

‘Maa Da Laadla’ – No album of Karan is without a Bhangra and this one is one of them. The song has been written by Kumaar and the song is in voice of Saleem .This song tells about movie.

‘Shut Up & Bounce’ – The song “Shut Up” has Shilpa Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham together on Miami Beach. This may attract youngsters who like to watch movies for beach shows.

‘Khabar Nahi’ – The song starts with guitar sounds and it is basically a romantic number in the voice of Shreya Ghoshal and Amanat Ali and even Raja Hasan’s voice can be heard. The song is written by Anvita. It is not a high beat song.

‘Kuch Kum‘ –This is a melodious song in voice of Shaan and the lyrics are of Vishal Dadlani. This song is slow in the start and it is a romantic number that says that the whole world should move as per the high imaginations of the lover. It is like everything the winds, rains are less,”Kuch Kum.”

The album has basically good romantic numbers and even the dance numbers are impressive.
