Madhur Bhandarkar scheduled his film “Fashion” for release on Diwali and therefore when he was summoned by Delhi Woman commission to reply over the allegation that he is showing model Geetanjali Nagpal in his movie in a negative way, he immediately withdrew from stating that his movie is based on Nagpal’s life.

Bhandarkar said that his film has nothing to do with the model, Geetanjali Nagpal, who was found drugged and begging in the streets of New Delhi. Woman commission said they worked very hard to rehabilitate Nagpal, who was found abandoned on Delhi streets and they wanted to watch the movie before release, to get confirmed about the film that it has nothing to do with Nagpal’s life.

On meeting woman commission Bhandarkar said that his movie is not based on Nagpal‘s life and he depicted a model, an imaginary character, who is a supermodel whereas Nagpal was not a supermodel. Secondly he said that he took instances from many fashion model’s life to get the script of the film and he is not showing any single model in his film. It was earlier said that Bhandarkar’s film has Kangana playing the role of Geetanjali Nagpal.

Initially a kissing scene of the film was dropped by Bhandarkar that was a gay kissing scene between Samir Soni and Anil Kumar. The scene was later dropped by Bhandarkar saying that he wanted majority of audience to watch his movie and he even insisted that the scene has been restored on DVDs. After much confusion about the film, it was cleared to get released on Wednesday.
