The most awaited comedy flick of Diwali holidays “Golmaal Returns” comes with a crowd of actors but the film fails to deliver the expected, reason being the poorly written script. The film has many brainless jokes and fun made on real Bollywood characters. For delivering affable comedies, the performance of actors’ matters and the film lacks a ideal performance from lead set of actors.

The script of the movie appears to be inspired from an old Hindi movie “Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar” and the initial half comes of the movie with some script but the second part of the film has some resistible music sequence and lengthy end part.

The story is about Gopal who is married to Ekta, the house lady who is always busy watching Ekta’s show on small screen and her brother Lucky is dumb, is in love with a girl. Madhav is in love with Gopal’s sister Esha and Lakshman Prasad loves Mira (the character forced to look like Mira Nair.)Gopal works in a fishery company and one day he gets late to be back home after finishing office work where his wife (who is always watching television shows) gets suspicious of him having an affair with a girl in his office but the reason for him to get late to house is that he was kept stranded in a yatch wit ha lady Mira.

Madhav is the police inspector who thinks that Gopal murdered one of the employees of the company where he worked and Gopal keeps making false stories of the night because he doesn’t want his wife to suspect him. He says that there was a man called Anthony Gonsalves and he stayed with him. Gopal takes help from his subordinate Laxman Prasad, who poses as Anthony Gonsalves.

A part of script of the movie is repetitive and loud and the whole film looks inspired from the set of hit comedies of decade. Director Rohit Shetty is unable to make this movie, a better comedy and the movie retains faults from prequel of the film. The direction is not upgraded and editing is poor. Cinematography is okay. As the script moves from one screen to other, it gets confusing many times. Music is ok.

The performance of Ajay Devgan and Shreyas are ok, Arshad Warsi has less to do although kids loved his performance .Tusshar gets loud sometimes and Kareena has unable to deliver comedy, same can be said for Celina or Anjana. Amrita is ignorable. Not many comedies have been released from some time; therefore the movie will get audience response at the box office.

Rating: 5 / 10
