Music Review: ‘8×10 Tasveer’

The promotional of the film ‘8×10 Tasveer’ show Akshay Kumar, a serious man wearing official kind of suit (that sometimes resemble his father-in-law’s costume in 70’s films and you start expecting similar music) and the music of the film has been composed in a way to have mostly serious numbers. You don’t find Punjabi bhangras, folks or seductive item numbers in the album. Nagesh’s film is a psychological thriller and the music of the film has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman. Western tunes and new style similar to A.R. Rahman’s music has been incorporated to generate intensity and interest. Almost all the romantic songs of the album are soothing (not fast or high in beats).

“Nazaara Hai” – Electronic rock beats, intense voice of Vishal Dadlani and lyrics by Irfan Siddiqui’ are impressive. Theme of the song is about a (tasveer) picture unexplained, unseen picture and the intensity to find out about the unknown. Hard rock music, guitars and tense setting makes the song unique. A remixed version of the song is also present in the album that is unlike regular fast remixed versions and it picks up in later parts.

The dhol beats are repeated throughout the song and the theme is celebration. It is average song with all the “soniye” and “nachle” lyrics. The song has not been made like high voltage number and that is the good part of it.
